A woman found dead inside a tent in Auburn on Friday has been identified by police as Shelly Jump, 45.
Auburn police announced today that an autopsy has been performed and, at this time, Jump's death does not appear to have resulted from foul play.
At 12:51 p.m. Friday, officers responded to 300 block of Auburn Ravine Road to an area commonly referred to as the West America Bank Trail, regarding a report of deceased person in a tent. Police said the tent was in an area where transients are known to camp.
Lab tests have been sent to the state Department of Justice Crime Lab in Sacramento, according to a Police Department news release, and a final determination as to the cause of death will be made when results of the tests are received. Authorities said that likely will take several months.
Anyone with information regarding Jump's death is asked to call the Auburn Police Department at (530) 823-4237.
