Placer County Sheriff's deputies said an Auburn resident committed suicide after he shot a man who then drove himself to the hospital.
Deputies found a man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the head at his home on Bald Hill Road about 4 a.m. Sunday. Several callers reported hearing gunshots in the vicinity.
The man found dead on Bald Hill Road is believed to have shot another man while the victim was sitting in a car, according to a sheriff's department press release.
Before killing himself, the Bald Hill Road resident called the sheriff's dispatch center to report he had just shot someone. He also called family members before shooting himself.
The wounded man drove to Sutter Auburn Faith Hospital where he underwent surgery for gunshot injury. He is expected to survive.
