The man who allegedly held a woman hostage in her Tahoe Park home while hiding from police Wednesday had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on suspicion of a felony burglary charge, according to authorities.
Antwan Adger, 49, was wanted in connection with a burglary in Contra Costa County, according to a spokesman for the Sheriff's Department there.
Sacramento police discovered the warrant for Adger's arrest after he had holed up in a 64th Street home, near 2nd Avenue, and kept a 36-year-old resident there against her will. The woman, Cathy Scoto, eventually ran from the home and was unharmed.
The ordeal unfolded after a California Highway Patrol officer tried to stop Adger for an alleged traffic violation, according to Sacrament police. Adger allegedly failed to yield, and fled the car after crashing it near Kroy Way and Broadway in Tahoe Park. The officer gave chase, but lost sight of Adger.
Adger entered Scoto's home through an unlocked back door, Scoto said. After Scoto fled the home, Adger eventually surrendered to police and was arrested on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment and burglary and the outstanding warrant, according to police.
Adger was found to be unarmed.
