The California Highway Patrol is asking the community's help in the search for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision that left a pedestrian dead on Christmas Eve.
The collision occurred about 5:10 p.m. Dec. 24 on a westbound Highway 50 onramp in Rancho Cordova. Investigating officers believe the vehicle was traveling on the Highway 50 westbound onramp from southbound Sunrise Boulevard when it struck a woman in the roadway as she was crossing the onramp in a westerly direction, according to a CHP news release.
The pedestrian, identified by the Sacramento County Coroner's Office as Yvonne Janell Raphael, 65, was then struck by two other vehicles, which remained at the scene. The first vehicle, however, fled.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate any eyewitnesses to the initial collision.
The investigating officer is searching for information to help identify the driver of that first vehicle or any witnesses who might have information regarding the collision.
Anyone with information pertaining to the investigation is asked to call (916) 464-1450.
