Citrus Heights man accused of burglaries, auto thefts

A Citrus Heights man has been arrested in connection with several burglaries that have occurred in the city in recent weeks.

Citrus Heights police officers contacted a suspicious looking man in the 7800 block of Sayonara Drive about 2:34 a.m. today. The man, identified as Scott Alan James, 42, was found to be in possession of jewelry, and officers located a flat-screen television and other property nearby, according to a Police Department news release.

The property was found to belong to a resident in the 6600 block of Rinconada Drive. Police said the home had been broken into and the property stolen while the residents slept.

Detectives responded to assist, and an investigation linked James to several other burglaries and auto thefts that occurred in the past few weeks.

James was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of burglary and auto theft.
