Citrus Heights police investigate second homicide in 12 hours

A Citrus Heights man is dead after being struck with an unknown object, the second homicide in the city in 12 hours.

However, though close in proximity and in timing, Citrus Heights police say the two incidents are not related.

Police responded to the 6300 block of Stonehand Avenue on a medical call involving a person struck with an unknown object, according to a police news release. There, they found the victim unconscious outside of his house.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Sacramento County Coroner's Office identified the victim as Jack Swaim, 52.

Police said they do not know the motive for the crime and have released no suspect information.

Twelve hours earlier, a man was found fatally shot inside a car parked outside a McDonald's on Lichen Drive.
