Sacramento County sheriff's homicide detectives are seeking the public's help in identifying the occupants of a vehicle that was near the scene of a fatal shooting early Saturday.
The vehicle is described as a light-colored, full-size, standard cab pickup. It is not considered a "suspect vehicle" in the case, but detectives believe the occupants may have information that could be helpful in solving the case, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.
Shortly after 3 a.m. Saturday, deputies responded to a vehicle accident at 65th and S streets in the city of Sacramento. They discovered that one of the vehicle's occupants, a 20-year-old woman, had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Investigators determined that the vehicle in which the woman was a passenger had been struck by gunfire between 2:50 and 3 a.m. on Watt Avenue near the Alta-Arden expressway.
Officials said the pickup truck is known to have been in the immediate area at the time of the shooting. Detectives would like to find out whether the occupants witnessed anything that might be pertinent to their investigation of the shooting.
Anyone with information regarding the vehicle is asked to call the Sheriff's Homicide Bureau at (916) 874-5115. Tip information also may be submitted anonymously through the website at www.sacsheriff.com, by texting 274637 and entering the keyword SSD, or by calling (916) 874-8477.
