Galt police arrest two for appliance, household item theft

Galt police have arrested two men suspected of taking appliances and other items from a home while the owners were away on holiday vacation.

Two officers stopped Miguel Diaz, 46, of Galt on Wednesday afternoon as he pedaled along C Street. In a trailer attached to his bicycle, police said they found stolen items.

During a subsequent investigation, the officers were able to contact the owner of the stolen items.

They also arrested a second man, Dustin Scott, 41, at his Galt home.

Items recovered during the investigation included a new washer and dryer, a large flat screen television, a computer, a computer game system and numerous other items. Police determined that the belongings had been stolen over three days while the homeowner was away.
