A man allegedly fired a weapon in an Arden Arcade home filled with children and adults, prompting a two-hour standoff with Sacramento County sheriff's deputies.
Douglas Wilson Cappa, 26, was booked into jail early this morning on suspicion of assault, burglary, vandalism, discharging a weapon in a negligent manner and false imprisonment.
Deputies said they were called about 9 p.m. Wednesday to the 2400 block of Wurth Court near Cottage Way and Fulton Avenue in Arden Arcade.
While responding to the report of an argument between a man and a woman, deputies received further information that gunshots had been fired.
Cappa was inside the home with a firearm deputies learned when they arrived on scene. Also inside the home were four children and other family members.
As yet, nobody had been struck by gunfire. Deputies proceeded to evacuate neighbors for safety.
With deputies in position outside, an adult escaped through a window and then managed to help four children get out. A woman, believed to be a family member of Cappa's, remained inside.
Deputies said they intermittently spoke with Cappa by telephone over the next two hours, but he refused to surrender.
About 11 p.m., the woman, who deputies believed had been held against her will, walked out of the house. Moments later, Cappa walked out and was taken into custody.
The weapon fired earlier in the night was recovered in the residence.
