Sacramento police today arrested a man in connection with a Dec. 30 robbery in the midtown area.
Robert Binns (pictured), 53, was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of robbery and violation of parole.
About 1 a.m. Dec. 30, the victim left a nightclub in the 2000 block of K Street and started to walk home. As the victim approached 21st and J streets, the suspect reportedly rode up on a bicycle, asked a question and then struck the victim, knocking him to the ground. The suspect stole the victim's wallet and keys to his roommate's vehicle before leaving the area, according to a Police Department news release.
Later that morning, the roommate's parked vehicle, a gray Honda Pilot, was stolen from the area of 21st and F streets. The vehicle thief was caught on video surveillance but does not appear to be the suspect in the robbery, police said.
About 1 p.m. Sunday, police were dispatched to the 1600 block of 28th Street regarding a suspicious person. Officers contacted Binns and found he possessed identifiable items stolen from the victim's wallet.
On Wednesday, detectives met with the victim, who identified Binns as the man who robbed him, police said.
Officers located Binns today and arrested him.
The stolen vehicle has not been recovered, and the vehicle thief has not been located.
