Report: Body of teen missing since New Year's at Tahoe casino is found

The body of a missing Petaluma 19 year old, who was last seen in South Lake Tahoe around New Year's Eve, has been found this morning, according to the Reno Gazette Journal.

The newspaper reported that Alyssa Byrne's body was discovered in a snowbank off the side of Pioneer Trail in El Dorado County by a utility worker.

A Douglas County sheriff's spokesman said there were no signs of trauma or foul play.

Further details on Byrne's death were not immediately available.

Sheriff's deputies in northern Nevada had offered a $1,000 reward in the search for Byrne, who was last seen alive on New Year's Eve at a Lake Tahoe casino.

Her father, Kevin Byrne, said she was staying with friends at the Horizon Casino Resort in Stateline, Nev. She last was seen on the casino floor shortly after midnight.

Byrne said his daughter and three friends checked into the Horizon and texted her mother on Saturday and texted both parents on Sunday.
