Rocklin man jailed, accused of August restaurant robbery

A 24-year-old Rocklin man has been arrested in connection with the August robbery of a local restaurant.

Justin Zinman is being held in Placer County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to a Rocklin Police Department news release. Officials said he was arrested Dec. 15 on suspicion of robbing the El Mariachi Restaurant and on unrelated drug charges.

Police were called to the restaurant at 1240 Sunset Blvd. about 8:40 p.m. Aug. 15 regarding a report of an armed robbery that had just occurred. Officers were told that a white man believed to be in his 20s entered the business with a white handkerchief over his face. He reportedly showed the employee behind the counter a black handgun in his waistband and demanded money.

The suspect took cash, then left on foot, heading northwest across the center's parking lot toward the rear of the Strikes Family Entertainment Center on Lonetree Boulevard.

After an investigation that included assistance from the Roseville Police Department, Zinman was arrested and booked into the Roseville Jail last month, then transferred to the Placer County Jail.
