Sacramento PD: Father arrested at casino for leaving child behind in vehicle

Joseph Paiva.JPGA man has been arrested for allegedly leaving his daughter inside a vehicle while he was in a South Sacramento casino, according to police.

Joseph Robert Paiva, 25, (pictured) was booked into Sacramento County Jail on suspicion of child endangerment. Police said officers were hailed by a security guard who noticed movement in a vehicle parked in the 6000 block of Stockton Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. today.

Officers investigated and found a two-year-old girl inside the vehicle. Police said a further investigation revealed that the girl was left in the vehicle for more than an hour.

Paiva, the child's father, was in a nearby casino. The child was placed in care of Child Protective Services.
