A investigation into alleged shoplifting has resulted in the arrest of a south Sacramento woman for felony use of pepper spray stemming from an ongoing dispute, Sacramento police say.
The woman, Jacquelin Wade, 26, was arrested Sunday.
She and another woman were detained earlier Sunday at DD's Discounts on the 6100 block of Mack Road on suspicion of shoplifting. The security officer who detained the women claimed one of the suspects used pepper spray during the incident.
Police spokeswoman Officer Michele Gigante said that the pepper spray allegation was unfounded.
A police report states, however, that two groups of females were involved in an ongoing disturbance at a nearby apartment complex on the 5100 block of Mack Road that included the use of pepper spray.
Police received several calls related to that conflict in the previous two days, Gigante said, and officers responding to the shop-lifting call ultimately connected Wade to the apartment dispute.
"Officers were able to determine that one of the subjects was involved in the prior fight," Gigante said.
