A 28-year-old woman was arrested today after she allegedly led police on a vehicle pursuit that reached speeds of up to 90 mph, according to authorities.
Sacramento County sheriff's deputies arrested Gesselle Givens after the car she was driving collided with a truck on Arena Boulevard near Interstate 5, said Sgt. Jason Ramos. Her car briefly burst into flames after the collision, but nobody was injured.
The pursuit began about 10:50 a.m. when a deputy ran the license plates of the car Givens was driving and found it to be stolen, Ramos said. When he tried to initiate a stop on westbound Interstate 80 at Longview Drive, Givens failed to yield and fled, Ramos said.
Givens then went northbound on Interstate 5 before exiting at Arena Boulevard, Ramos said.
Givens was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of car theft, possession of stolen property, evading a peace officer and false impersonation of another, all felonies. She is being held in lieu of $105,000, according to jail booking records.
