Teen dies after falling off a bluff in Redding, police say

A 16-year-old boy has died after falling off a bluff, Redding police reported.

Officers responded at 9 p.m. Saturday to a report of someone falling off the bluffs at the south end of Palisades Drive.

Police officers, with the help of a California Highway Patrol helicopter, found the victim and a family member who had gone to assist him on the side of the Sacramento River.

A police officer performed CPR on the teen, but he died from injuries from the fall.

Names of the victim and the family member were not released.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the Redding Police Department Investigations Division at (530) 225-4214.
