Two Woodland men arrested after report of attempted break-in

A report from an alert neighbor led to the arrest of two men accused of attempting to burglarize a Woodland home this morning.

Police officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of Howard Drive at 10:34 a.m. regarding suspicious circumstances. A neighbor reported that two men ran from the back yard of a residence after trying to break into the home.

Officers stopped a vehicle spotted leaving the area and contacted the occupants, Surjit Singh, 21, and Israel Rodriguez, 20, both of Woodland. The two men had allegedly smashed a rear window of the residence and run from the back yard, according to a Police Department news release.

Police said Singh was on post-release community supervision under the state's prison realignment. He was booked into Yolo County Jail on suspicion of attempted burglary and violation of the terms of his post-release community supervision. Rodriguez was booked on suspicion of attempted burglary and violation of probation.

Anyone with further information about the incident is asked to call the Woodland Police Department at (530) 666-2411.
