Women knocked to ground by stranger in midtown

Christopher McCombs, 51.JPGTwo women were knocked down by a stranger in separate incidents near a midtown supermarket.

Police responded to 19th and S streets about 5 p.m. where the women were assaulted by someone they did not know. The man was reported to have knocked the women to the ground.

Officers eventually found a man matching the description given by the victims. He was identified by the women as the person who attacked them.

Christopher McCombs, 51, was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor battery in the Sacramento County Jail. He has since been released from jail.
