Woodland authorities reported a citizen apparently stopped a burglary in progress at his home Saturday by pinning the suspect to the sidewalk until police officers arrived.
Woodland police were dispatched at 6 a.m. to Fourth Street and Lincoln Avenue after a fight was reported. Once there, a man flagged them down, asking for help in detaining burglary suspect Michael Gabriel Luna, 55, who he had pinned to the sidewalk in front of his Fourth Street home.
The home owner told officers that he had seen Luna taking power tools from his property.
Officers detained Luna and requested medical personnel for injuries he sustained during the citizen's arrest.
Luna was booked at the Yolo County Jail on one count of first-degree burglary after being medically cleared at Woodland Memorial Hospital.
The victim told officers tools had been taken from a locked garage in his back yard, and the lock had been broken. During the investigation, detectives learned $2,000 worth of tools and equipment still were missing.
Detectives served a search warrant at Luna's Woodland home and recovered most of the missing property, the department reported.
