Yuba County deputies report marijuana found in car after chase

A Sacramento man was arrested on suspicion of vehicle code violations and possessing marijuana after leading Yuba County Sheriff's deputies on a chase in the Olivehurst area.

About 4:30 p.m. Sunday, deputies attempted to stop the driver of a car for vehicle code violations near the intersection of Chestnut and Olivehurst avenues. But the driver failed to yield and sped away with deputies in pursuit, according to a Sheriff's Department news release.

The chase continued on Highway 70/65 to Forty Mile Road, and eventually to Pleasant Grove Road, where the suspect's vehicle was disabled by a mechanical problem.

Inside the vehicle, officials said, deputies discovered approximately 1 pound of marijuana.

The driver, John Thomas Goodman, 19, was arrested on suspicion of felony evading a peace officer, possession of marijuana for sale and vehicle code violations.
