Folsom police were waiting when suspected car burglars tried to become home burglars.
On Feb 15, a Folsom woman parked her car in Roseville in the 1000 block of Orlando Avenue and placed her purse in the trunk. Burglars broke into the car, rummaged through her glove compartment, taking her vehicle registration, and popped the trunk lid to take her purse.
Thinking ahead, Roseville police called their colleagues in Folsom to ask that they check on the woman's home, since her address was now known by the car burglars. Folsom police watched her home and met the two suspected burglars as they arrived at the residence, according to Roseville police public safety report.
The burglars were arrested and stolen property was recovered.
Roseville police urge people to not leave purses or wallets in their vehicles. They also suggest that, if the trunk is to be used for storing such valuables, people should place them there before arriving at a destination to avoid tipping off potential thieves.
