Dukes of Hazzard-type chase in Yuba County

Two men in an SUV led the CHP on a Dukes of Hazzard-type chase Wednesday afternoon.

A California Highway Patrol officer noticed a driver in a 1999 Dodge Durango about 4:30 p.m. with no seatbelt on Arboga Road in Linda, Yuba County. When the officer activated his emergency lights to make a stop of the SUV, the driver hit the gas.

The SUV reached speeds of 70 mph on Arboga Road, north of Furneaux Road, with the CHP in hot pursuit before turning into a driveway. From there, the driver headed toward railroad ties that were piled against a chain link fence.

The driver ran over the ties and powered through the fence.

The two men in the SUV then bolted from their disabled vehicle and ran, jumping over fences to eventually escape officers. The driver was described as white, 20 to 25 years old, 5 feet 11 inches tall and about 185 pounds.

The CHP is following up on leads to identify the driver and his passenger.
