UPDATE: Nine people injured in four-vehicle collision in Elk Grove

Nine people were taken to local hospitals this evening following a four-vehicle collision at Laguna Boulevard and Neosho Drive in Elk Grove.

Detective James Kang of the Elk Grove Police Department said the crash occurred about 8:30 p.m. Investigators are interviewing witnesses and trying to piece together what happened. But Kang said it appears a vehicle westbound on Laguna Boulevard overcorrected and went into the eastbound lane, striking an sport-utility vehicle and causing it to overturn.

Kang said a woman and four children age 7 to 14 were were in the SUV and were taken to local hospitals, along with occupants of other vehicles involved. He said none appeared to be seriously injured.
