One last cigarette before heading for Sacramento jail

A motorist was carted off to jail after she insisted on smoking a cigarette instead of exiting her vehicle at the request of an Elk Grove police officer.

Elk Grove police said they stopped Jade Edwards Mainor, 22, of Sacramento in the early morning hours on Sunday at Calvine Road and Sheldon North Drive for a vehicle code violation. A check of records told the officer that Mainor had an active warrant for her arrest and that she was driving on a suspended license.

A police watch summary indicates that the officer told her to get out of vehicle, but she insisted on smoking a cigarette. The officer was having none of that.

Mainor was removed from the vehicle and taken to the ground. Shortly after that, she was taken to jail where she was booked on suspicion of resisting arrest, the active warrant and a vehicle code violation.
