Police book two suspects into jail on stolen gun charges

Two men were booked into the Sacramento County jail on gun related charges early Sunday after police said the suspects tried to ditch the evidence.

Police reports said officers approached a vehicle parked at a gas station in the 2400 block of Del Paso Boulevard at about 1 a.m., and made contact with two men seated in the car. The passenger attempted to discard a handgun while officers were talking with them, police said. The officers took both occupants into custody and reported finding a stolen loaded gun under the car.

A search of the inside of the car revealed a second loaded handgun under the passenger seat, police said.

The driver, Benjamin Baena, 21, and his passenger Francisco Oliva, 20, were both arrested and booked on multiple gun charges, police said.
