Sacramento Metropolitan fire district personnel responded to three separate apartment house blazes last night.
The first occurred about 4 p.m. in the 2500 block of Edison Avenue in Arden Arcade, the second an hour later in the 3800 block of Little Rock Drive near Antelope Road and the third began at around 8 p.m. in the 4900 block of Little Oak Lane in North Highlands.
The fire on Edison Avenue involved an apartment oven. It was contained to the kitchen, according to a fire department spokesman.
The fire on Little Rock Drive started at a bathroom fan and quickly spread to the attic, said public information officer and firefighter Rashawn Fulcher.
The final fire of the three was more extensive, starting in a downstairs unit back bedroom. It quickly spread to other units. Four out of 12 units were eventually involved.
"An aggressive approach was used by the fire department due to the high potential for people being at-home and asleep at that time," said Fulcher.
Firefighters began a rapid search of the apartments on arrival. Some firefighters went into the back of the building in a search for residents, while other crews attacked from the other side of the apartment house to find the fire.
Nobody was reported injured in the apartment house blazes. All three fires are under investigation.
