The name of the 18-year-old Sacramento woman who died in a single-car rollover accident in Natomas late Sunday night had been released by the Sacramento County Coroner's office.
She was identified as Liana Kotsura of Sacramento.
At 11:10 p.m., a red 1998 Acura sedan being driven by Vladimir Sushinskiy, 18, of Sacramento, was traveling along eastbound Interstate 80, merging to southbound Interstate 5 at a high rate of speed, said California Highway Patrol Officer Lizz Dutton.
Sushinskiy lost control of the car, sending it careening off of the north roadway edge of the transition road, Dutton said. The car raced up and over a guardrail and flipped over, coming to rest on its roof in the westbound lane of the I-80 interchange.
Kotsura, a passenger in the back of the car, was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sushinskiy was transported to Mercy San Juan Medical Center, and two other passengers, David Tkachuk, 18, and a 17-year-old female, both from Sacramento, were taken to UC Davis Medical Center, all with moderate injuries.
Dutton said charges against Sushinskiy are pending the outcome of an ongoing investigation.
