Two teenagers were hospitalized with major injuries Thursday night after they were struck by a truck while bicycling and skateboarding along Dry Creek Road in Rio Linda.
The 17-year-old boys, one on a bicycle and the other on a skateboard, were traveling together on the east side of Dry Creek Road, north of Elkhorn Boulevard, about 10:22 p.m. They were riding southbound in the bike lane when a Ford truck northbound on Dry Creek Road traveled into the bike lane. The truck struck both boys and continued north on Dry Creek, failing to stop at the scene, according to a California Highway Patrol news release.
Both boys were transported to Mercy San Juan Medical Center with major injuries.
The vehicle is described as a large, dark-colored Ford truck. The truck is missing its right front side mirror and may have damage to the hood, grille and right headlight.
