Arrest made in Auburn bike business burglaries

bicycle.jpgAuburn police arrested a man they suspect has a penchant for burglarizing bicycle businesses.

At 4 a.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the Auburn Bike Works, 350 Grass Valley Highway when a burglar alarm was activated. Brandon Lee Monsen, 28, (pictured) a homeless man from the Auburn area, was found near the business, police said.

He was detained while officers went about investigating the property. They believe that Monsen tried to cut the power to the Bike Works and enter through the back of the building.

Police said Monsen had knives and crystal methamphetamine in his possession. They believe that Monsen may also be responsible for the burglary of the Auburn Bicycle Emporium, 483 Grass Valley Highway, on Sunday.

He was booked into Placer County Jail on suspicion of burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
