QUESTION: Whatever happened to the case of the pastor in south Sacramento -- his name was Frederick Dew -- who was accused of molesting a boy at the MLK library back in 2006?
Submitted by: Slim, Sacramento
ANSWER: A Sacramento County jury found Frederick Deshawn Dew guilty of sexually assaulting a teenage boy at the Martin Luther King Jr. Library in the Meadowview area in March 2007.
According to Sacramento Superior Court online records, Dew was sentenced to 15 years to life in prison.
Dew was pastor of the Praise Tabernacle church. According to stories in The Bee, he reportedly assaulted a 13-year-old boy inside a restroom at the library. The victim escaped and immediately reported what had happened to library officials.
Library security personnel were able to get a description of the suspect as he was leaving, and police arrested Dew the following day.
Dew, 40, is incarcerated at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility in San Diego.
