Citizen reclaims possessions for woman mugged in Sacramento

A woman robbed of her belongings on a city street has the kindness of another person to thank for getting them back.

Sacramento police said the 75-year-old woman was waiting at a bus stop about 7:30 p.m. Monday on Stockton Boulevard at Sixth Avenue, between the Oak Park and Tahoe Park neighborhoods. A man in his 30s approached and asked for money.

When she refused to give him any money, he roughed her up and took her utility cart containing her belongings. A citizen nearby witnessed the assault and followed the robber.

Once confronted by the citizen, the robber eventually handed over the woman's possessions to the good Samaritan. The robber, who fled, was described as a black man, about 6 feet 1 inch tall, 180 pounds, wearing a dark puffy jacket and blue jeans.

The woman was taken to the hospital for treatment of her injuries.
