Dogs rescued from Rancho Cordova fire by Sac Metro firefighters

dog rescued2.JPGSacramento Metropolitan Fire District firefighters today rescued two small dogs from a burning Rancho Cordova mobile home.

The dogs were last reported in critical condition at a pet hospital where they were transported after firefighters administered oxygen to the pets.

The first firefighters at the scene of the 10:30 a.m. fire on Redcoat Lane near Routier Road reported heavy smoke coming from the double-wide mobile home. Crews began to put out the fire and search for two dogs reported to still be inside.

Crews found the dogs, removed them to safety, and began resuscitation. No mobile home residents or firefighters were injured.

Fire damage was estimated at $25,000. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
