Elk Grove police are asking the public's help in identifying and locating two suspects in the attempted robbery Wednesday of the Wells Fargo Bank at 5120 Laguna Blvd.
The suspects entered the bank at 3:43 p.m. and confronted several employees. When they entered, one of the suspects used the handle from a scooter to prop open the front door, according to a Police Department news release. Once inside, they reportedly approached several different employees, grabbed them and demanded that they open the safe.
Before employees were able to comply with the demands, the suspects left on foot and were seen running into a residential neighborhood. They did not obtain any money from the bank.
The first suspect (left photo) was described a black man in his late teens or early 20s, 6 feet tall, with a thin build. He was wearing a black jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt, dark gray jeans, black gloves and dark colored athletic shoes. He also wore a white cloth that covered the lower portion of his face and was carrying a red bag.
The second suspect (right photo) was described as a black man in his late teens or early 20s, 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt with red logos near the upper sleeve or shoulder over a white shirt, blue jeans, dark colored athletic shoes and black gloves. He also wore a white cloth that covered the lower portion of his face.
Anyone with information about the attempted robbery is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department's detective bureau at (916) 478-8060, or Crime Alert at (916) 443-4357. Callers to Crime Alert can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Tips also can be sent via SMS text message by entering 274637 on a cell phone, followed by Tip732 and the message.
Wells Fargo also is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for any information leading to the arrest or conviction of the suspects.
