Man arrested after fight at homeless shelter

Sacramento police reported a suspect struck a victim on the head while they waited in line at a homeless shelter.

"Someone felt like he was cut in line," officer Doug Morse said.

Officers arrived at Dos Rios and North D streets about 7:15 a.m. Friday and arrested Rashaad Sampson, 53, who was leaving the area, according to a police report. Sampson was charged with felony battery and remains in Sacramento county jail in lieu of $1 million bail, according to county inmate information.

Fire personnel treated the victim with an injury that was not life threatening at the scene, officers said.
