A man who threatened his girlfriend in an effort to discourage her from pursuing a domestic violence case against him is headed to prison.
The Sacramento County District Attorney's Office announced today that 27-year-old Jorge Cabrales was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Cheryl Meegan to 22 years in state prison. A jury convicted Cabrales of felony domestic violence causing great bodily injury, witness intimidation and criminal threats.
Cabrales assaulted his girlfriend, breaking her nose, according to a District Attorney's Office news release. Aware that she had reported the assault to police, he called her several times the next day in an effort to dissuade her from cooperating with law enforcement.
