Update: Man dies when struck by car on Auburn Boulevard

A man was hit and killed by a car this morning when crossing Auburn Boulevard, according to Sacramento police.

The man in his 60s was not in a crosswalk when he walked across Auburn Boulevard just east of Watt Avenue about 6:30 a.m. A car heading westbound hit the man.

A Sacramento police spokeswoman said it does not appear that the driver was drinking or speeding. The driver stopped to render cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.

The pedestrian's body was still in a westbound lane of Auburn Boulevard at 9 a.m. and traffic was being detoured around the scene.
