Sacramento police said two weapons were recovered during a search of a vehicle in Land Park last night.
The incident also resulted in the arrest of two people after a long search of the neighborhood around 9 p.m.
It all began when an officer drove over to speak to a man and a woman standing outside a car at a gas station near Sutterville Road and South Land Park Drive. The man tried to reach into the car but the officer stopped him.
The man then broke free of the officer and ran. The officer then noticed the woman working her way toward the driver's side of the car, according to police.
The woman, Desiree Davis, 27, was detained and eventually arrested on suspicion drug possession. Police said methamphetamine and a rifle were found in the car trunk.
A loaded handgun was found in the front passenger seat area, police stated in an activity log. The car"appeared to be a stolen vehicle," according to police.
The man, Edward Sample, 33, was found after a lengthy search. When spotted in a front yard he began to run but was taken into custody with the assistance of a police dog.
Sample was booked on a variety of charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon, having a concealed firearm in a vehicle, receiving stolen property, drug possession, receiving stolen property and resisting arrest.
