Sacramento police used Taser and baton to bring suspect under control

Lonetoga Maea.JPGA suspected motorbike thief was wrestled, hit with a Taser and ultimately struck with a police baton during a violent arrest in South Sacramento on Sunday.

Lonetoga Maea, 32, was booked on suspicion of assault on a police officer, motor vehicle theft and a drug charge after his arrest Sunday night.

Officers were called to the area of Mack Road and Samos Way in the Parkway neighborhood about 6:45 p.m. Police were told that people were being loud and riding dirt bikes up and down the street.

Upon arrival, officers spotted Maea riding a dirt bike on a sidewalk. He resisted officers who took him to the ground, according to a police activity log.

Maea was to then get up and charge an officer, who deployed his Taser, police said.

The Taser only momentarily fazed Maea. He soon charged again, knocking an officer to the ground, police said.
