A 17-year-old student was arrested today after threatening on Facebook to shoot someone at El Camino High School during school on Monday.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said the student was arrested on a felony charge after a concerned parent was alerted to the Facebook posting.
Because of the arrest, "it is not believed that any imminent threat exists to anyone attending this school (Monday) morning," the department said. Nevertheless, sheriff's deputies will be on campus Monday.
The suspect wasn't identified because he is a juvenile. He was charged with threatening to commit a crime resulting in serious injury.
The Sheriff's Department said the Facebook posting didn't mention specific people who were the alleged targets of the shooting.
