Teen killed in early-morning crash near Arden Fair

By Mark Glover

A 19-year-old man was killed in an early morning crash today near Arden Fair mall, according to California Highway Patrol officials.

CHP Officer Lizz Dutton said the 19-year-old was driving a 1994 Nissan pickup truck westbound on Arden Way, just east of Bell Street, around 4:30 a.m. when he crossed over into the eastbound lanes and hit a Chevrolet truck.

The man, whose identity has not yet been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet vehicle is being treated for serious injuries at a hospital.

Dutton said the 19-year-old is suspected of driving under the influence, but the crash remains under investigation.
