Woman allegedly bites Sacramento police officer during dispute

A woman was arrested Saturday afternoon after she allegedly bit a police officer trying to intervene in a couple's argument, Sacramento police reported.

Two children were on the scene of the fracas, which occurred about 2:30 p.m. in the 4500 block of Breckenridge Way.

Sacramento police officers responded to a domestic 911 call from inside a home, and when they arrived, a child told police her father was hitting her mother. Officers could hear a couple arguing inside the home, but the couple wouldn't open the door, according to police reports.

Officers entered the residence and eventually arrested Pedro Pastrana, 33, on suspicion of domestic violence.

The woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting and biting a police officer. Police didn't release the woman's name because she was initially an assault victim.

Police said two children at the home, a 4-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl, were taken into protective custody.

The officer sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at a local hospital.
