Boater who drowned identified by Yolo coroner

The Yolo County coroner's office has released the name of a boater who fell overboard in the Sacramento River on Sunday.

He was identified as Joua Kao Lor, 55, of Sacramento.

West Sacramento Fire Department personnel were dispatched at 3:48 p.m. Sunday to a report of a drowning. Lor fell from a boat into the river near South River Road and Babel Slough.

Searchers on the bank, in a helicopter and in the water searched for Lor, said West Sacramento Battalion Chief Steve Bins. Details were not available on what caused Lor to fall from the boat.

His body was found and removed from the river at about 7 p.m. Sunday by Drowning and Accident Rescue Teamdivers.
