One of three people who helped pin down a suspected burglar near Woodland on Wednesday was stabbed in the side.
The Yolo County Sheriff's office said deputies were called to the report of a burglary on Mallard Street in the Wild Wings subdivision, west of Woodland, about 2:13 p.m. Wednesday.
Once there, deputies learned that three citizens had taken down a suspected burglar. The resident of a home on Mallard Street arrived home to hear voices inside the residence.
The resident went next door to get help. Two strangers then ran from the resident's home, got into a car and fled.
A third person also ran from the home, until a man in the area heard the burglary victim shouting. The man realized that help was needed and gave chase on Wild Wings Drive, grabbing Royce Allen Johannes, 21, of Woodland.
A sheriff's department press release said burglary suspect Johannes allegedly stabbed the man in the side once with a knife. The wound was not life-threatening.
Johannes deployed stun gun on a second man who tried to help, the press release said. A third man stepped up to help the other two citizens, holding Johannes down until deputies arrived.
Johannes was arrested on suspicion of attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon and burglary.
