A Fairfield man has been arrested after a passenger in his car died from injuries suffered when the vehicle slammed into a tree along Northgate Boulevard.
Sir Von Church, 33, was booked on suspicion of manslaughter, driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license.
The California Highway Patrol said that Church was driving his Camaro on Northgate Boulevard, south of West Stadium Lane, at a high rate of speed about 3:30 a.m. Sunday when the car drifted to the right. His car left the roadway, hit a tree and the impact split the car in half.
A passenger in the car, Christopher Lee Daniels, 29, of Sacramento, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the Camaro. Daniels was pronounced dead at the scene.
Church suffered minor injuries. He was booked into jail after treatment.
