Fatal crash into tree along Capital City freeway during morning commute

The California Highway Patrol said a fatal collision occurred on the Capital City Freeway near Arden Way this morning.

The motorist was apparently traveling eastbound on the Capital City freeway about 7 a.m. on wet roadway. The vehicle in which the motorist died ended up near the westbound side in the center divider.

The motorist's vehicle hit a tree in the center divider. Traffic was backed up at 8:15 a.m. on the southbound side of the freeway.
