Police apprehend man after four-hour standoff

Sacramento SWAT members responded to a four-hour standoff that ended about 6:30 a.m. Sunday with the arrest of a 37-year-old man.

Sacramento city police were called to the residence in the 1600 block of Glenrose Avenue about 2:10 a.m. for an intoxicated man walking around the house with a gun in each hand, said Michele Gigante, a police spokesperson.

When officers arrived, the family, including an infant, got out of the home, but the man barricaded himself in the house and wouldn't come out. The SWAT team was called out to the scene, Gigante said.

The man was eventually taken into custody shortly after 6:30 a.m. and booked on suspicion of being a felon in possession of firearms. No injuries were reported.
