Name of driver killed in Capital City freeway crash released

The name of the driver killed Thursday when his vehicle hit a tree along the Capital City Freeway near Arden Way has been released by the Sacramento County Coroner's office.

He was identified as Roberto Meza Ayon, 59, of Winton, Merced County.

The motorist was apparently traveling eastbound on the Capital City Freeway about 7 a.m. on wet roadway. Ayon's vehicle ended up near the westbound side in the center divide.

Ayon's vehicle hit a tree in the center divide, backing traffic up in the commute on the westbound side of the freeway.
