A man has been taken into custody by police after allegedly assaulting a family member at an Oak Park residence.
Sacramento Police Department SWAT officers were dispatched to a home on Ninth Avenue near Pansy Avenue about 8:45 p.m. Police Department spokesman Officer Doug Morse said the man had gone to the home and, during a physical confrontation, he allegedly assaulted an adult female family member. The man was not armed at the time and the woman fled the house.
Fire Department paramedics responded and the woman was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Morse said.
Police then received a report that the man might have armed himself with a knife. Other family members left the house, and it was believed the man had barricaded himself inside.
Morse said the suspect came to the door and surrendered just as SWAT officers arrived at the scene, and one else was injured. He said the man, whose name has not been released, will be arrested on suspicion of assault.
