Deputies arrested Courtney Kathleen Addington (pictured) on Tuesday night, two and a half months after deputies discovered the baby's body in a trash bag underneath a bed in Addington's Wildrose Way home, said sheriff's Sgt. Jason Ramos.
On Jan. 25, staff at Mercy General Hospital notified Sacramento police after they admitted a woman who they were confident had given birth - she was bleeding excessively - but who had denied doing so, Ramos said. Sacramento police then notified the Sheriff's Department, and deputies went to Addington's home to check on the welfare of a possible baby.
That night, deputies found the baby's body.
Addington is being held in the Sacramento County Main Jail, where she is ineligible for bail. She is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday.
