The Yolo County coroner's office has released the name of the man who was run over by his truck tractor at a West Sacramento trucking company yard.
He was identified as Vitali Dobic, 36, of Sacramento.
Police and California Highway Patrol officers responded to an industrial accident in the 3000 block of Evergreen Avenue about 11 a.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, officers found a semi-tractor that appeared to have crashed through a chain-link fence of the business. It had stopped at the side of Interstate 80, just west of the Harbor Boulevard entrance, said West Sacramento police spokesman Lt. Tod Sockman.
Dobic was pinned under the tractor, which was still running. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dobic was an employee of the trucking company and the tractor was assigned to him. Sockman said it was not unusual for someone to be in the trucking yard alone, and there were no witnesses to the incident.
